Mollie McFee

Assistant Editor

I acquire books in the celebrated Chicago Studies in Ethnomusicology series, now in its third decade. I especially welcome projects that transform the local insights of ethnographic research and close attention to music into incisive analysis that drives scholarship forward. The series comprises books from a range of global contexts and has recently produced work by Alessandra Ciucci, Meredith Schweig, and Richard David Williams. The next book in the Big Issues in Music series will be Jairo Moreno’s Sounding Latin Music, Hearing the Americas.

My colleague Marta Tonegutti acquires the larger part of the music list, including the critical editions of Verdi, New Material Histories of Music series, and the Opera Lab series.

I began my career in publishing in the Press’s marketing department in 2017. Before working at the Press, I completed a doctorate in comparative literature at the University of Chicago with an emphasis on twentieth-century Caribbean literature.

Prospective authors are encouraged to consult our submission guidelines. We also provide an overview about publishing with Chicago here.
